Eight-year-old Libby is full of energy and determination. She loves swimming, socializing, cooking, and learning new things.
Earlier this year, Libby had a stroke after a procedure. A blood clot formed on the right side of her brain, weakening her left side. A few months later, while waiting for a new heart, she had another stroke on the left side, leaving her unable to use her mouth and making it very hard to do the things she loves. She has been working hard ever since, rebuilding her strength on her left side and her mouth through exercises and rehabilitation. "I'm working on building my strength every day like a fighter," she says, every day clearer than the last.
Libby has been through multiple surgeries and is waiting for a new heart. Through it all, Chai Lifeline has been there for Libby and her family with hospital visits, meals, support, respite, special events, and a magical summer at Camp Simcha, where she can just be a kid.
Libby's advice comes from someone who truly understands resilience: "When it's over, you're gonna be proud of yourself."
She's not just strong. Libby is her own hero.
